HMRC shares new list of Covid-related support schemes to include in next tax return

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) is reminding Self Assessment customers that there is now less than one week left to submit paper tax returns and 99 days for online tax returns.

The Self Assessment tax return deadlines for 2020/21 tax year are October 31, 2021 for paper returns and January 31, 2022 if customers complete their tax return online.

More than 10.7 million customers completed a tax return by January 31, 2021 and of those 96 per cent submitted it online. HMRC says completing it online is the quickest method and with less than 100 days to go, customers have plenty of time to get it done.

HMRC said: “Even if customers submit their completed tax return now, they do not have to pay any tax owed until January 31, 2022.
