A hiker who was only 100 meters away from bagging her 184th Scots Munro had to be saved by mercy crews after she snapped her ankle just 15 minutes from the summit.
Bekah Cork had been scaling Sgurr nan Coireachan in the Highlands before the horror fall on Saturday afternoon. Despite the good conditions, the 32-year-old found herself lying in a heap and screaming after slipping on the path just moments away from the top.Lochaber Mountain Rescue Teams scrambled to rescue the hillwalker, where it soon emerged she had broken and dislocated her ankle.
Bekah - who now requires surgery for her injuries - told the Record: "We were really close to the summit then the next thing I knew, I had hit the ground and I was screaming - it felt like I had moved out of myself."The conditions were great, I just slipped and fell.
I was walking on a really flat part of the path and must have hit a bit of mud."My leg suddenly went, I heard a crack and I fell to the floor.
