Heywood has been hit with a dispersal order after a group of youths were seen carrying knives on Sunday evening. Police were called to a disturbance in the town centre on Sunday, February 13.

A large group of young people were spotted carrying various weapons, including knives. READ MORE:  'Life saving' service for young people battling drug and alcohol addiction praised by watchdog The Heywood neighbourhood policing team announced on Monday that a large dispersal notice would be issued.

They are now asking parents in the area: "Do you know where your child is?" The order will remain in place until 2am on Thursday, February 16.

Police will have the powers to direct a person who has, or is likely to commit antisocial behaviour, to leave the area and not return for a period of up to 48 hours.
