Brian Matthews has come under fire today for a tweet he posted regarding asylum seekers getting benefits. The nightclub owner took to Twitter to express his opinion but soon faced backlash for the post which was branded 'racist' by some social media users.

In the tweet, Brian, who currently resides in Dubai, said: "So if you leave the country on holiday illegally you get fined up to £5000 but if you enter the country illegally you get benefits.

We're a strange wee place."And many were quick to comment on his words, with some branding it 'racist'.One said: "Pretty sure there's a difference between fleeing a war torn country and going for a piss up in Ibiza..."Another fumed: "Is this for real?
