Famous faces from 1990s series Gladiators have revealed the true scale of injuries that occurred behind the scenes and kept hidden from viewers. Amid rumours that the popular show is set for a comeback, Gladiators stars Lightening (Kim Betts), Saracen (Michael Lewis) and Hunter (James Crossley) appeared on This Morning.
The programme saw athletic TV fans battle as Contenders against the show’s mighty Gladiators, in events that test their speed, skill, stamina and strength.
However, the sports game show had more injuries than we ever saw. ‘There were a few injuries going about,’ Saracen began, explaining how some of the games, like Powerball, were more contact-heavy. ‘There’s no retakes,’ Hunter added, saying: ‘As with any contact-sport there’s always a chance of injuries. ’He continued: ‘Over the ten years, a few shoulders popped and knees. ’Gallery: From the best villains to the craziest storylines, say goodbye to Neighbours (Metro)The original series of Gladiators hit our television screens in 1992 and was broadcast on ITV, lasting for eight seasons until 2000.
