Ghostly Old Lawers Village explored in updated history guide

The new owner of the scheduled ancient monument, Old Lawers Village, has created a website to help visitors interpret the abandoned Loch Tay settlement and make sense of tales of a ‘resident ghost’.

Mike Donnelly purchased Old Lawers in the summer and soon after told the PA he had plans to make its history and layout of picturesque stone ruins accessible to the public.At https://www.oldlawersvillage.co.uk Mike sets out the intriguing past of Old Lawers Village, passing through seven generations of Campbells, each bestowed with the title Laird of Lawers.

The sixth laird encountered debts that forced the sale of Lawers. James, his son and last Campbell Laird of Lawers, held his title in name only, until a further sale of the land in 1693
