Fire crews called to snooker club blaze after youths seen 'pouring petrol on roof'

in Whitefield last night. The fire happened at the Savanna Pool and Snooker in Albert Close just before 8pm on Tuesday (December 9).

Fire crews say youths were seen scaling the premises before pouring 'petrol' over the roof and setting it on fire. They then fled the scene.The blaze damaged one corner of the roof but did not spread to the inside of the building.

A spokesman for Whitefield Fire Station told the Manchester Evening News : “It was attempted arson on the roof of the snooker club. “It’s all on CCTV and is being investigated by police. “What looks like three youths climbed onto the roof.“They then poured petrol onto the roof and absconded.
