PHILLIP Schofield tried not to cry today when he met the stars of LGBTQ+ teen drama Heartstopper on This Morning. The TV star, who announced he was gay in February 2020, heaped praise on the coming-of-age romance from Netflix.
The presenter and his co-host Holly Willoughby spoke to rising stars Joe Locke and Kit Connor, who play two teenage boys falling in love.
Phil, 60, spoke about the struggle to fit in and to be accepted by other people, and said that the series showed there could be an alternative.
After watching the first episode that aired on Friday night, he said: "There were good friends, There were understanding families. "It's the world that you want it to be, you want that friendship group, you want that acceptance, in every school and life.
