Electric vehicle charging rates set to increase across Tayside next month

The cost to charge an electric vehicle in Tayside is rising significantly next month, council bosses have warned. They said the move is due to the increase in energy costs across the world.

To balance the availability of fast and rapid chargers two different rates will also be introduced. The new tariffs will be 20p per kWh for fast chargers up to 22kW and 25p per kWh for rapid chargers up to 43kW AC or 50kW DC.When charges were introduced in the city in 2019, residents’ discounted tariff moved to a cost recovery rate when Scottish Government subsidies ended.From 1 April 2022 a discounted resident tariff of 15p per kWh will apply to fast chargers.A council spokesman confirmed the new resident tariff remains lower than the charge for business users and non-residents.DundeeLive brings you the latest headlines from Dundee and beyond.But did you know you all the ways you can stay informed with us?You can get our top stories sent straight to your inbox with our daily news updates.
