Ross 'The Boss' Montgomery admits it's a surreal feeling to secure his first-ever PDC Tour card. The 59-year-old, who has loyally supported the BDO/WDF Tour down the years, made a surprise appearance at Q-School in Milton Keynes this week and produced an even bigger shock by landing playing privileges on the PDC for the next two years.Montgomery played some inspired darts on Friday to win the day three final at Q-School, beating Jamie Clark 6-2 in the final.
And he told Lanarkshire Live Sport: "When that last dart hit the board I was like: wow, I've just won a Tour card. "It took a while to sink in.
It was quite surreal."Then I started thinking about who I could be playing this year and I could be playing top players all the time now, so I really need to knuckle down and put the work in."I need to work practice harder than ever and mentally get ready for it."These guys play the game for a living, I don't."But now I'm going to have to look at things and see what happens."There will be a lot of decisions to be made in the next week."I had a great day on the Sunday and picked up three points.
Monday I got hammered. Tuesday I picked up another point and that was enough to get me to the final stage."It's been a funny week.
