Epilepsy is one of the most common serious neurological conditions in the world affecting around 600,000 people across the UK, according to the latest figures from Epilepsy Action.
The charity also highlighted how almost one in 100 people in the UK have epilepsy with around 87 people being diagnosed every day.
It is a condition that affects the brain and can start at any age, but this usually happens either in childhood or in people over 60.
When someone has epilepsy, it means they have a tendency to have epileptic seizures - anyone can have a one-off seizure, but this doesn’t always mean they have epilepsy.
