A driver has been arrested after being seen mounting a kerb and swerving across the road "several times". He later failed a drugs test and was found to be in possession of a tranquilizer.

Greater Manchester Police Traffic tweeted at 2.10am today (Wednesday) that officers stopped a Toyota Aygo on Market Street, Farnworth, in Bolton.

It said: "#XT18 has stopped has stopped a Toyota Aygo on Market Street, Farnworth, Bolton, after seeing the driver mount a kerb then swerve across the carriageway several times. "The driver would fail a drugs test and cannabis and was found with a quantity of Xanax tablets."
