In less than a week, the hashtag #PostYourPill has amassed thousands of posts on Instagram and Twitter. Started by Dr Alex George, ex-Love Islander and UK Youth Mental Health Ambassador, the campaign aims to destigmatise the use of antidepressants and other mental health medications.

Taking to Instagram on 27 November, the former Love Island contestant bravely shared an image of a pill that he takes to help treat his anxiety.

In the post, which now has over 270,00 likes, Dr Alex spoke about the stigma surrounding people who take medication to treat their mental health. “I have been thinking quite hard about whether to post this, but I feel it’s the right thing to do," he wrote. “So many people live with medication stigma everyday, a fear.
