Dominic Raab has been forced to backtrack after incorrectly stating the number of people in hospital with Omicron TWICE during a disastrous series of interviews.
The deputy PM first told Sky News that the number of people hospitalised with the new variant of coronavirus was 250. "Last I saw it was in the low hundreds, 250 the last time I looked, but of course the data is being updated all the time," Mr Raab told host Kay Burley this morning. "The problem is the rate at which it is transmitting and if that continues, we will see those numbers increase very dramatically."
