DIY SOS viewers in tears as Nick Knowles leads tributes to ‘wonderful’ star who died after his episode aired

NICK Knowles has led tributes to a "wonderful" DIY SOS star who died after his episode aired. Fans of the show have been left in tears after learning severely disabled teenager Ollie, whose home was transformed after his mother passed away and father became paralysed, had passed away.

In the summer of 2017, roofer Darren was left paralysed and wheelchair bound when he developed cauda equina syndrome - a serious condition where the nerves at the very bottom of the spinal cord become compressed.

Darren's childhood sweetheart Sarah passed away later that year on Boxing Day. With Darren's condition only getting worse, he had been left to take care of Ollie, who was born with Hydrocephalus, also known as water on the brain.
