David Tennant backed as bookies first choice to play Doctor Who again

Speculation is rife for who will be taking on the role of Doctor Who as Jodie Whittaker is due to step out of the Tardis for good later this year.David Tennant, who played the Time Lord from 2005-2010 in the BBC series, has become a bookies' favourite to reprise his role and become the 14th Doctor.

The Scottish actor famously played the Tenth Doctor and was hugely popular with viewers, before passing the baton to The Crown's Matt Smith.

Jodie Whittaker is set to leave the Tardis later this year, after becoming the first woman ever to play the Time Lord in the sci-fi series, sending people spiralling over who will play the time traveller next.

According to the British betting and gambling company Ladbrokes, he is leading the race with an impressive 11/10 odds as the next Doctor.
