Cycling Scotland incentive can help community groups organise Pedal Lanarkshire

Community organisations in Lanarkshire can now apply for grants of up to £10,000 to organise free, beginner-friendly cycling events this year.The last of the Pedal for Scotland closed-road Classic Challenge fundraising events between Glasgow and Edinburgh, took place pre-pandemic in 2019 and has now evolved into a series of shorter, free events in different locations to support more people to cycle, with a particular focus on families and people new to cycling.Cycling Scotland, with funding from Transport Scotland, supported four organisations across the country in 2021 to deliver Pedal Ayr, Pedal Lerwick, Pedal Falkirk and Pedal Highland Perthshire.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Funding can be used for event set up, equipment, insurance and route support.The events should be inclusive, free and non-competitive and be held on beginner-friendly cycling
