'Crime Night' is coming and homeowners are urged to be vigilant

Homeowners are being urged to take extra precautions on Friday night as November 12 - a date int he calendar which has been dubbed 'Crime Night'.

Statistics reveal that it is the time people in the UK are most likely to be burgled, with more than 300 reported cases of burglary reported on this date, according to new research from Churchill Home Insurance.

It’s estimated that nearly £900,000 worth of valuables could be stolen on this day alone, as the typical burglary claim costs in excess of £2,700, HullLive reports.

The spike in crime most likely correlates with the clocks going back, analysis of home insurance claims over the past three years has shown, as burglaries increase by a third (34 per cent) during the winter months. READ
