Council slammed for state of overgrown green spaces in East Kilbride as they abandon maintenance
dailyrecord.co.ukJoin thousands of others who have signed up for the Daily Record newsletter.South Lanarkshire Council are permanently abandoning maintenance of open spaces in parts of Mossneuk and Gardenhall.Independent councillor David Watson has slammed grass cutting and hedge trimming in these areas being stopped – with the decision being taken with no consultation he claims.It follows fierce criticism from fellow Independent Councillor Jim Wardhaugh over residential grassed areas being left to grow wild across the town during lockdown with only a limited number of areas being tackled when some maintenance by the council resumed.He now fears overgrown grass is a risk to children and pets alike and at junctions could cause an accident due to it limiting.
