with the town hall hoping to have it opened by 2022.First built in 1973, the existing building will be knocked down to make way for the new complex after it was found to be outdated when compared to other facilities.The new building will boast a sports hall, six-lane swimming pool, learner pool, steam room and sauna, two squash courts, a gym, dance studio and changing rooms.But the pandemic has caused the project to be pushed back by six months, forcing the council to spend an extra £2.7m to pay contractor Laing O’Rourke while covering inflation.It will also go towards the hiring fees for the temporary sports hall and library which has been built for the use of pupils at Abraham Moss Community School.Councillor Luthfur Rahman, executive.
