Her mum Bernie comes to the rescue when it's clear that Gemma isn't coping, but it's her new so-called friends Imogen and Vanessa who literally push her to the brink.
When she hears them gossiping about her after being plied with prosecco, an upset Gemma grabs the buggy and flees. In her emotional state, Gemma fails to spot an oncoming car which screeches to a halt, narrowly missing the buggy.
A police officer realises Gemma’s been drinking, and Gemma admits to Bernie that she endangered the babies’ lives and hasn’t slept for weeks.
