CORONATION Street star Matthew Dunster - famed for playing bad boy Ryan Sykes - looks completely unrecognisable two decades on from his soap career.

The Lancashire-born actor arrived on the ITV cobbles in 2000 following the death of his character's little brother Dean. The hardman, often seen with his close-cut hairstyle and a black puffer jacket, teamed up with big sister Linda Baldwin before bagging a job in the iconic Underworld factory.

Yet his troubled Coronation Street life path was soon to begin when he discovered Emma Watts - wife of hapless Curly - was responsible for his brother's passing.

This prompted fisty cuffs with Curly before Dean got into everything from black market CDs to forging his expenses. Matthew wrapped his time on the soap in October 2001.
