Temperatures have started dipping below freezing in parts of the country which means many Scots could be eligible for a £25 payment to help heat their home this winter.
The Cold Weather Payment is a UK Government subsidy paid out to help householders on a low income pay their fuel bills during periods of especially bad weather.
The latest figures show that in November, an estimated 356,000 Scots were eligible for the support, with some 133,000 of those aged over 66 and receiving Pension Credit.
However, temperatures didn't drop low enough to trigger a payment. Eligible claimants will get £25 for each seven-day period of very cold weather between November 1, 2020 and March 31, 2021.Payments are triggered by data collected by the Met Office.
