Chetham's School of Music pupils evacuated in early hours as fire breaks out with 'substantial damage' to building

The fire started in a concert hall at the Long Millgate campus in Manchester city centre at around 2.20am on Thursday. Four fire engines raced to the scene.

Pupils at the boarding school had to wait outside as smoke billowed from the building.
