Chesterfield say they are ‘aware’ of allegations that one of their players was involved in a ‘vicious assault’ on Oldham Athletic 's Hallam Hope.
The 28-year-old was left with ‘serious injuries’ after being attacked in the staff car park outside Boundary Park following Oldham's 2-0 defeat to The Spireites on Saturday.
The Latics said police had been informed about the attack, which left the winger requiring hospital treatment. The club said it had passed CCTV to officers in connection with the incident. In a statement issued this afternoon, Chesterfield said: "Following an incident which took place after Saturday’s game at Oldham Athletic, we are aware of an allegation relating to an un-named Chesterfield player. "We are assisting Greater Manchester Police with their enquiries.
