Rutherglen Glencairn boss Willie Harvey is looking forward to their weekend friendly clash at Cambuslang Rangers, but wishes they were meeting regularly in league games.Glens were one of seven teams ousted from the Premier League last season as the leagues were reconstructed, while Rangers earned promotion by winning Conference B.The sides will meet at Somervell Park on Saturday in the annual William Skinner Memorial Cup match, and Harvey says actual derbies would have been brilliant. He said: “It’s always good to meet up with Cambuslang.“It would have been nicer to meet up with them in the league, but that wasn’t to be.“That would have generated some right good games between the two teams!“But that was one of the reasons why both teams got together and decided to keep this cup going in pre-season.“The William Skinner Trophy is something we’ve continued, and it keeps the relationships between the teams going strong.”Cambuslang Rangers co-boss Billy Campbell said: “We’re looking forward to the game.“We’ve known the guys there for a long time, Willie and Joe [Pryce, assistant], and the team down there, so we’re looking forward to it.“They’re good guys, we have a great relationship with them.“We’ll pay our respects and go and see if we can enjoy a game of football.”Kick-off at Somervell Park is at 2pm.Follow Lanarkshire Live Sport onTwitter via@LanLiveSport, like us onFacebookor find us onInstagramfor the latest sports news, pictures and video.
