Bury boxer Scott Quigg has confirmed his retirement after his shock defeat in his big fight at Manchester Arena on Saturday night.
The former world champion's corner threw in the towel after he was dominated by the un-fancied Jono Carroll. The 31-year-old former world super-bantamweight champion hoped to set up another world title challenge after stepping up to super-featherwight.
However despite being heavy favourite, Quigg, in his first fight since returning to be based in the UK with former trainer Joe Gallagher, struggled against the Irish southpaw Carroll, 27.
