Bruce Willis diagnosed with dementia, family announces

The family of Hollywood icon Bruce Willis have announced the actor has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia.The 67-year-old was diagnosed with the brain condition aphasia last spring, which caused his language abilities to deteriorate.

Now his ex-wife Demi Moore and current wife Emma Heming Willis have given an update on his health in a post on social media.It read: "Our family wanted to start by expressing our deepest gratitude for the incredible outpouring of love, support and wonderful stories we have all received since sharing Bruce’s original diagnosis."In the spirit of that, we wanted to give you an update about our beloved husband, father and friend since we now have a deeper understanding of what he is experiencing."Since we announced Bruce’s diagnosis of aphasia in spring 2022, Bruce’s condition has progressed and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (known as FTD)."Willis achieved fame with a leading role on the comedy-drama series Moonlighting and has appeared in over a hundred films, gaining recognition as an action hero after his portrayal of John McClane in the Die Hard franchise and other roles."Unfortunately, challenges with communication are just one symptom of the disease Bruce faces.
