'Becoming a cycling city': new cycle lanes popping up around Salford this summer

New cycle lanes are popping up around a part of Salford which campaigners say is slowly becoming a "cycling city" in the wake of the pandemic.Pop-up bike lanes and planters have been placed around new "filtered" neighbourhoods and on routes leading towards Manchester city centre.This comes as walking and cycling has increased by 34 per cent across Greater Manchester since the coronavirus crisis commenced.Campaigners Walk Ride Salford have welcomed the move by the council with spokesman Harry describing the recent developments as a "revolution".He said: "I think this is the beginning of Salford becoming a cycling city."Many households in the area do not have access to a car.
