BBC Breakfast viewers 'switched off' as Sally Nugent was forced to present solo following a 'pointless' shake-up. Today's show saw Sally in the studio on the red sofa while co-host Jon Kay was presenting live from Downing Street ahead of the Conservative leadership race results.
Jon, 52, explained what was going to happen, telling viewers: "At 12.30pm today that's when we find out, Liz Truss or Rishi Sunak will be crowned the winner of the Conservative leadership contest. "Therefore they will become the country's next Prime Minister, but they don't actually become Prime Minister immediately. "That happens tomorrow as the Queen has to formally appoint them to that post and that will happen at Balmoral. "Normally it happens at Buckingham Palace, but because the Queen is in Scotland at the moment, and because she is not going to return back to London, they will go to Balmoral."
