Louise Minchin has told how her late co-star Bill Turnbull saved the life of one of their BBC Breakfast colleagues after he spoke out about his cancer diagnosis.
The presenter and journalist's death was announced by his family in an emotional statement on Thursday (September 1). His family, including wife Sarah, who is known as Sesi, said Bill died peacefully, aged 66, at home on Wednesday (August 31) after a "challenging and committed fight against prostate cancer." He had been diagnosed with the disease in November 2017.
Bill, who appeared on BBC Breakfast from 2001 until 2016, revealed the diagnosis in March 2018. He had been suffering from pains in his legs but hadn't wanted to bother his doctor.
He took part in a celebrity edition of The Great British Bake Off, in aid of charity Stand Up to Cancer, in November 2017.
