Ever since Boris Johnson resigned as Conservative Party leader on July 7, Brits have been wondering when his replacement will be announced.
Mr Johnson revealed his controversial decision to remain in his role as Prime Minister after his resignation to provide the country with stability while a new leader was elected by Conservative party members.
MPs in the House of Commons voted on the nominees for leadership until there were two finalists, Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak. Conservative party members then had from 12 July to vote for either candidate, with votes closing at 5pm tomorrow (2 September). The winner will then travel to Balmoral with Boris Johnson for the Queen to formally swear in the new Prime Minister. Ms Truss and Mr Sunak faced off for the final time last night in the last hustings of the leadership contest, with Ms Truss promising if she was elected there would be no energy rationing this winter, while Sunak warned nothing could be ruled out.
