Justin Timberlake

Justin Randall Timberlake (born January 31, 1981), occasionally known by his initials JT, is an American singer, songwriter, actor, dancer, and record producer.

Raised in Tennessee, he appeared on the television shows Star Search and The All-New Mickey Mouse Club as a child. In the late 1990s, Timberlake rose to prominence as one of the two lead vocalists and youngest member of NSYNC, which eventually became one of the best-selling boy bands of all time.

Timberlake began to adopt a more mature image as an artist with the release of his debut solo album, the R&B-focused Justified (2002), which yielded the successful singles "Cry Me a River" and "Rock Your Body", and earned his first two Grammy Awards.

Background Vocalist Says They Sang Key Parts on Justin Timberlake's 'Cry Me a River'

A background vocalist is claiming credit for singing a heavily praised portion of Justin Timberlake‘s Grammy winning song “Cry Me a River.” Released in 2002, the song helped transform Justin from a member of *NSYNC to a certified solo star.

In 2004, it won him a Grammy in the Best Male Pop Vocal Performance category. A fan-favorite part of the song is the outro, where Justin seemingly showed off his impressive falsetto, hitting very high notes while repeating the line, “cry me, cry me.” However, according to Marsha Ambrosius, that’s actually her on the track. During a recent interview on The TERRELL Show, she revisited that part of the song, proclaiming that she was “the barbecue.” What does that even mean?

He can absolutely come to the barbecue.’ But years later, they will find out that that part was actually me,” Marsha said. “And this is not to shade the rest of the song. Justin Timberlake can… He’s from Memphis.
