When it comes to helpful tricks and tips while travelling by air, no one has better advice than flight attendants. Having racked up hundreds of hours in an airplane, they know exactly what to do to make a flight as comfortable and hassle-free as possible.

Their inside knowledge also allows them to avoid certain things - such as tea and coffee. While a mid-flight brew may be a welcome pick-me-up for many, some attendants have warned that both the hot water tank and coffee machines leave something to be desired when it comes to cleanliness.

One former cabin crew member shared the fact to social media, reports the Mirror. The ex flight attendant is called Kat Kamalani, and she now shares all of the tricks that she learned on the trade to her whopping 840,000 TikTok followers.

She said that she personally chose to avoid a coffee, and suggests that others might want to as well. The cabin crew member warned: "Talk to a flight attendant, we rarely, rarely drink the tea or coffee."They come from the same water tank and so when you're drinking that coffee and tea it comes from that hot water and it's absolutely disgusting."The parts in the coffee machine won't be cleaned unless they are broken and the whole machine is never cleaned and they're by the lavatories." It's not the first time that a flight attendant has claimed passengers should avoid the water on planes - another member of cabin crew even suggested you should avoid brushing your teeth at the sink.
