Arif Hussein, a producer who founded Kaos Films and a British screenplay competition for short films, died Jan. 20 in London of complications from COVID-19, his wife reported.
He was 63. According to his wife, Kathryn Wolfe, Hussein had signed to executive produce with Steven Spielberg's Amblin Partners and J.J.
Abrams' Bad Robot a film about a 2014 refugee drowning tragedy caused when a trawler with nearly 500 passengers aboard was deliberately sunk in the Mediterranean.
Hussein located 10 survivors scattered around the world, met with them and listened to their stories. In 2001, he launched Kaos Films, based at Pinewood Studios.
