Appeal to trace convicted Salford burglar who has absconded from prison

Police have launched an appeal for help to trace a Salford man wanted for absconding from prison. Matthew Ferguson, 22, is wanted after going on the run from HMP Kirkham in Lancashire on Wednesday (March 11).

He was sentenced to 30 months in prison at Burnley Crown Court in June for offences of burglary, making a false representation and theft of a vehicle.

Ferguson, formerly of Clarendon Road, Eccles , has links to the Salford and Radcliffe areas of Greater Manchester. Lancashire Police described him as white, 5ft 10in tall and of medium build.

He has blue eyes and short brown hair. He also speaks with a Manchester accent, police said. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact police on 101 or email
