The Highway Code has been given a major revamp with a number of important changes to come into force next weekend. Changes to the Highway Code, which contains advice and rules for people on Britain’s roads, will affect cyclists, drivers, horse riders and pedestrians.
The updated code is set to come into force on Saturday, January 29, pending parliamentary approval. However, a new survey suggests that as many as one in three drivers are unaware of the rules changes. The changes will introduce a new risk-based hierarchy of road users. Drivers will have more responsibility to watch out for people cycling, walking or riding a horse, while cyclists will have more responsibility to be aware of pedestrians.
