The incident happened between junctions 10 and 11 near Daresbury in Cheshire shortly after 4pm. Pictures from the scene showed an air ambulance after it had landed in the field.
Motorists who were passing the scene reported at least one other vehicle was also involved - it also appeared to have come off the motorway.
