Wigan coach Adrian Lam will specially select a player to mark pacy Wakefield winger Tom Johnstone in the opening match of Super League's Easter programme on Thursday.

Johnstone demonstrated his scoring threat with two long-range tries against Leeds in the opening round to provide a timely nudge to England head coach Shaun Wane, who will update his squad on Tuesday.

Lam needs to find a player to fill the right-wing spot after losing new signing Jai Field with a torn hamstring on his debut and will have the potency of the 25-year-old Johnstone firmly in his mind when he makes his choice. "You want to see where your opponents' strengths are and match them if not better them," he said. "He's an enigma for them and for Super League.
