By Elsa Keslassy International Correspondent With a sanitary crisis raging around the world, borders of Europe closed, theaters shut down and now a ban on large events in France, the Cannes Film Festival refuses to throw in the towel and continues to explore options.
The leading force behind the festival, director Thierry Fremaux, tells Variety that Cannes wants “to be present in the fall to contribute” to the celebration of life, and the restart of the industry and reopening of theaters. “The cinema and its industries are threatened.
