A woman who attempted to sue her GP for £940,000 after they failed to recognise her breast cancer symptoms had her case thrown out by a judge after being caught taking part in a Scottish swim race.

Sarah Iddon alleged that her mastectomy and axillary dissection left her with crippling chronic pain, leaving her unable to work, play sports and reliant on daily care and support.

However, it was revealed at Manchester High Court that since her operations, Mrs Iddon had taken part nine racing events including 10k runs and wild water swimming at the Great Scottish Swim in Loch Lomond.

His Honour Judge Sephton QC said that would have awarded the claimant £70,000 was it not for her "very grave" dishonesty, Manchester Evening News reports.
