Woman rushed to hospital after being hit by a tram in Salford

in Salford. The incident happened at around midday near the Weaste tram stop in Eccles New Road. Police, paramedics and fire crews were all called to the scene and the road was closed between the Stott Lane and Eastbourne Avenue.

The woman, believed to be in her 50s, was freed by fire crews and taken to Salford Royal Hospital. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 12:05pm today, two fire engines from Salford fire station, one from Eccles, and the Technical Response Unit and Support Unit from Ashton-under-Lyne were called to an accident involving a tram and a pedestrian on Eccles New Road, Salford. “Firefighters were quickly on the scene and extricated a woman using a hearth kit."The individual was attended.
