Salford woman with a history of swallowing objects died after one perforated her bowel, an inquest heard. Alison Molyneux was known to swallow pens, batteries, aerials and glasses arms as part of a long battle with self-harm.

The 52-year-old had been a mental health patient at Edenfield Hospital in Prestwich when she died in 2017. An inquest into her death started at Rochdale Coroners Court on Monday (January 18).
