West Lothian nursing home residents paid their respects with homemade poppies for Armistice day

Sign up to the weekly West Lothian Courier newsletter for the latest West Lothian news and sport.Residents at a West Lothian nursing home found a creative way to mark Remembrance events last month.Elderly people living at Woodlands Nursing Home in Livingston made and sold their own poppies and raised £23 to donate to Poppy Scotland.They also held a special social-distanced memorial and moment of silence for Armistice Day after creating a poppy monument in the garden and a wreath to lay next to decorated crosses.Activity coordinator Daniel Heath said: “The current restrictions, though necessary, are obviously hampering our plans for group activities, but we’re working hard to keep our residents happy, active and fulfilled, and the residents.
