Walker 'fractures skull' after horror fall on Skye mountain as pal shouts for help through thick fog

hillwalker who suffered a horror fall on a Scots mountain was found by rescuers after his pal shouted for help through the thick fog.

The 43-year-old man was coming down Loch Coire a’ Ghrunnda on the Isle of Skye when he suffered a suspected fractured skull as well as painful injuries to his shoulder and hip.

The alarm was raised with HM Coastguard at around 8.15pm on Tuesday with a rescue helicopter sent to the scene despite poor weather conditions.

Twelve members of the Skye Mountain Rescue Team also raced to find the stricken casualty who was treated at the scene before being carried to safety.He was then taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness after being loaded into the helicopter which took off in zero visibility.A statement from Skye.
