Around 50 homes on Glasgow street evacuated after families trapped in ‘4ft high flood waters’

Glasgow street had to be evacuated last night due to severe flooding. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service received numerous calls from concerned residents on Summerhill Road, Drumchapel, after heavy rain trapped them in their homes.

Fire crews worked to divert the flooding for over six hours after the street turned into a massive river. Families were forced to barricade themselves in as the water kept rising.The fire service eventually had to evacuate approximately 50 homes on the street before leaving at 10.30pm, with two appliances at the scene.Pictures sent to the Daily Record show the road submerged under around 4ft of flood water.Last night one resident said: “No one can get in or out and the water level just keeps rising.
