Tyrell Malacia responds to Patrice Evra and Rio Ferdinand's comments after Man United start

Manchester Unted defender Tyrell Malacia has claimed it’s an 'honour' to get compliments from club legends like Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra.

Malacia was praised for his personal performance in United 's 2-1 victory over Liverpool on Monday night, with Ferdinand complementing the 23-year-old for how he dealt with Mohamed Salah.

The BT Sport pundit also compared his style of play to former teammate Evra. While ex-defender Evra was slightly more measured in his response, admitting that Malacia still has a long way to go to reach his level, despite his strong start, the Frenchman also praised the former Feyenoord man’s determination, hunger and selflessness. "It’s the first time hearing it, because I don’t watch the media,” the left-back told United's club media team. "So, for me, it is the first time I’m hearing this but it’s a big compliment.

I’m honoured to get this compliment from [them], yeah." Malacia was keen to praise fellow new signing Lisandro Martinez, who also arrived at Old Trafford from the Eredivisie earlier this summer.
