Tyler Perry to Write & Direct Drama 'Straw' for Netflix, Star-Studded Cast Revealed!
justjared.comTyler Perry has a new movie project at Netflix! The 54-year-old actor and filmmaker will write and direct Straw, a drama starring Taraji P.
Henson, Sherri Shepherd and Teyana Taylor, via Variety. The film “follows a single mother who faces a series of unfortunate events that leads her down an unexpected path” as “she becomes entangled in a situation she never imagined and finds herself at the center of suspicion in a world that seems indifferent to her existence.” Glynn Turman, Sinbad, Rockmond Dunbar and Mike Merrill are also starring in the production.
Straw is the latest project from Tyler and Netflix’s film creative partnership that will have the filmmaker write, direct and produce features under a mult-year, first-look deal.
He also has The Six Triple Eight, starring Kerry Washington, and newly announced drama series Beauty in Black in the works.
