Tributes have been paid to a former provost of Dumbarton who was “a fount of knowledge” and “a man of real integrity and social conscience.”Ian MacDuff passed away last week at the age of 86, having devoted his life to making his hometown a better place to live.Born in West Bridgend in 1933, Ian was a proud Son of the Rock who lived in Dumbarton all his days.He enjoyed a happy childhood where he spent much of his time playing with his cousins who he remained close to throughout his life.Cousin Anne Haslam said: “We all have such happy memories of a wonderful man I am proud to call my cousin.”Ian started his education at West Bridgend school before moving on to become a pupil at Dumbarton Academy.Ian left the academy and started an
