direct to your inboxA Didsbury petrol station’s bid to extend its alcohol licence until midnight will only create more crime and antisocial behaviour in the village, worried residents claim.The Shell garage on Wilmslow Road is already allowed to open 24 hours a day but staff can only sell alcohol between 6am and 11pm.Plans for a 24-hour alcohol licence were rejected by Manchester council in 2019 over concerns that Didsbury Village would be turned into a destination for late-night drinkers.Licensing bosses sided with residents and councillors who rose up against the proposals.

One local previously said it would lead to ‘prositution, drug dealing and fights’ on the forecourt.Similar opposition has been mounted against the new application made.
